After learning that the Chinese invented kites, we wrote a letter to Dr. Spollen-LaRaia, requesting a Kite Flying Day at Hawthorne School! We brainstormed many reasons why we should celebrate flying kites. One of my favorite reasons that you came up with was that flying kites together with our dreams could bring our school together as a community! Keep those dreams soaring high!

Our Book Buddies are SO CUTE!
We are growing as readers and sharing our love of reading with Ms. Garcia's kindergarten class! We visited their classroom and helped them point and sound out new words. We asked them questions about their reading and modeled how fluent readers read, too!
Helping Drew
We learned an important message from the puppet show, "Helping Drew." Lee was bullying Drew because he was different, and Victoria did whatever Lee told her to because they were "friends." When Mrs. Tector, the school principal (also known as the Kid Protector) learned that Lee was bullying Drew, she put a stop to the bullying! If someone is being a bully, it is important to stand up for yourself with your words. If they don't stop, go tell an adult! We know there is a big difference between tattling and telling. The other important lesson is that we should be tolerant and celebrate what makes each of us unique!
And the King of the Jungle was ADRIAN!
This week was a super special week for Adrian! He was the King of the Jungle, found out that he is going to be a big brother to a little brother, and celebrated his birthday! Thanks, Adrian's dad, for celebrating with us and reading about a special friendship between Nugget and Fang!
Collaborating with Ms. Garcia's KINDERGARTNERS!
Our friends in Ms. Garcia's class are researching penguins and polar bears, too! We joined together to watch Growing Up in the Arctic: Penguins. We watched Bonita, a Humboldt penguin, grow up from an egg to a chick to a fledgling molting and getting her new feather so she could swim for the first time! It was a special moment for both classes as we cheered for Bonita in this beautiful story!

we are famous go-noodlers!
Everyone needs a brain break, right!?
GoNoodle.com is our favorite way to take a quick brain break during the day! Whether we are showing off our moves with Zumba, stretching with Maximo, or practicing our breathing with Flow, GoNoodle helps us to release some of our energy and then refocus on our learning! We are such GoNoodling pros that we were asked to GoNoodle on ABC News! |
